Practice makes perfect or does it?

I got through it and I am still alive to tell the tale haha but in all seriousness I was scared out of my wits that first time and many more afterwards but I kept showing up

Practice makes what? If you said perfect, please dismantle that belief system and look at it with a different perspective.

Practice makes progression, you can always better your best, you can always go beyond anything you have ever done. You can never hit a state of perfection you are always bigger than what you do!

16 years ago I was asked to cover for someone at a Business breakfast meeting. The person I covered for, said just introduce yourself, I thought I can do that!

We all sat down ready for the meeting to start and the top table introduced themselves and said “right time for the 60 second round” the penny dropped, holy sh*t I am going to have to stand a talk in front of everyone. Don’t PANIC DAN!!!

I got through it and I am still alive to tell the tale haha but in all seriousness I was scared out of my wits that first time and many more afterwards but I kept showing up, I kept doing my elevator pitch. I then got asked to speak for the 10 minute showcase, I did that a few times over the first couple of years, I was asked to speak at an event with 30 ish people, then I was asked to speak in front of 100 ish people so I did that a few times, then 500 then 1,000, can you see where I am going with this.

Each time I got better, stronger and wiser, I learnt new techniques and skills and I have realised that perfection does't exist. you don't want to be stuck in the fear zone and never take action, you permanently want to be in the learning and growth zone.

"Be forever a student and not a follower, take what resonate and leave what doesn't."

Just remember you can't plant a seed today and get a tree tomorrow we all know it doesn't work like that. What you’re looking for are new breakthroughs by practicing and taking that much needed action.

Whatever it is you are holding back on take the first step, fail fast and remember practice makes progression not perfection.

All the best
